New Year, New Adventures

Hello. This year, I'm looking forward to concentrating on experiences more so than material things. I'll be focusing on consistently finding things new to me off the beaten path, experiencing all that I can in the moment while contradicting myself by attempting to document as much as possible. I want to write more by handContinue reading "New Year, New Adventures"

Benton Harbor, Michigan

There on the eastern shoreline of Lake Michigan the sandy beaches meet the cold winter truth. The St. Joseph North Pier Lighthouse juts out over the water into the now icy and deep blue waters. As the crisp autumn air slowly transitioned to winter's harsh icy breath, the spray of the lake's waves lapping againstContinue reading "Benton Harbor, Michigan"

Street Art of Detroit

The art of Detroit continued... The Dequindre Cut Greenway is a converted below street level rail line transformed into an art lined walking trail. The art of the greenway stretches more than a mile dotting the sides of the pedestrian walkway creating a beautiful and authentic view of the city. No longer an abandoned railway,Continue reading "Street Art of Detroit"

Detroit, Michigan

This week has me heading East to Detroit, Michigan. The morning was bitterly cold, with temperatures in the single digits. The kind of morning where each breath inward burns your lungs. Luckily the weather turned more favorably as I headed East. Detroit is one of my favorite cities to visit. Nowhere else personifies the gritContinue reading "Detroit, Michigan"

Oak Hill Cemetery

Evansville, Indiana extended: At Oak Hill Cemetery among the hundreds of granite and marble monuments, lies the resting place of a family much different than many of their peers, the Harrison's. Elizabeth Harrison was said to be a queen to a tribe of Romany gypsies that had emigrated to the United States from England sometimeContinue reading "Oak Hill Cemetery"

Evansville, Indiana

This week brought me to the southern tip of Indiana. In a logistically awkward way, my destination would keep me on mainly country highways and off of the monotonous concrete expressways that lace the United States together. Once out of the city and its sprawling outskirts, I was met with the expansive spaces synonymous withContinue reading "Evansville, Indiana"

Latitude 45° North

As I returned from the snowy Upper Peninsula of Michigan last week, I pulled off the highway after seeing an old rusty sign for a geographical marker. To my surprise, the marker delineated the theoretical halfway point between the Equator and the North Pole. Finding this small oxidized plaque set in stone off the shoulderContinue reading "Latitude 45° North"

Marquette & Iron Mountain, Michigan

I'm way UP north in Marquette and Iron Mountain, Michigan for the week. The calm frigid waters of Lake Superior and dense forests were beautiful; I was lucky enough to see them for a few days before getting pummelled with snow. The evergreen trees walled in the highway as I drove southward back into WisconsinContinue reading "Marquette & Iron Mountain, Michigan"
